For many years, Schaeffler has made a decisive contribution to the development and current level of rolling bearing technology, particularly through its compact needle roller bearings, high load capacity cylindrical roller bearings and its diverse range of track rollers for rotary and linear motion.

FAG high precision cylindrical roller bearings are used where very high accuracy is required. Typical areas of application for these bearings include machine tools and printing machinery. They are ideal as non-locating bearings since they allow unconstrained compensation of changes in length during rotational movement between the rollers and raceways.

FAG super precision bearings for main spindles stand for very high precision and absolute operational security. Innovative FAG spindle bearing solutions are continually raising standards in relation to speeds, accuracy and rating life. For the main spindle system and the overall machine tool system to be successful, however, bearing components alone are no longer sufficient as a guarantee. Significant increases in performance and the creation of unique selling propositions for the customer are now achieved when the bearing manufacturer offers advice and carries out development work on the basis of wide-ranging system knowledge as well as being able to provide support through a range of service functions. It is through close partnership with the manufacturers of spindles and machine tools and through shared knowledge, founded on experience, of the requirements of end users and their customers that the potential exists for achieving a leading role in the market.

Features: The carriages in monorail guidance systems cannot accommodate vibration damping. In order to allow appropriate damping of vibrations from the adjacent construction, additional elements such as the passive damping carriage RUDS-D for the linear recirculating roller bearing and guideway assemblies RUE-E are required, which is positioned between the carriages. In order to have the greatest effect when bending vibrations occur, however, the damping element must be positioned at the point of largest deflection. A good knowledge of the vibration patterns is therefore required.

When used in combination with modern, high speed cylindrical roller bearings of types N10 and NN30 in particular, it is possible to realise high speed spindles with high axial and radial rigidity and load carrying capacity. Since no tilting moments must be supported, the kinematic characteristics under combined load are not impaired, which makes this bearing arrangement particularly robust.

In order that standard components can function for long periods, without maintenance and reliably even under extreme operating conditions, the Schaeffler Group has developed various coatings for such requirements. These coatings increase the corrosion resistance and/or wear resistance of the surface. The selection of the coating is always dependent on the area of operation and the application.

The new FAG PTB bearings were developed specifically for power tools, Due to the 30° contact angle, they are particularly suitable for supporting high axial forces. They are directly interchangeable with spindle bearings of series B719 and B70 and offer even more precise machining results and higher cutting performance for the application.

Materials that are resistant to overrolling, wear and corrosion are a basic precondition for rolling bearings that must function reliably even under extreme operating conditions and in some cases under poor lubrication conditions (lubricant starvation) or even dry running. The new rolling bearing steel Cronitect® from the Schaeffler Group is the product of logical further development of solutions already offered in the Schaeffler product portfolio. Cronitect® indicates the combination of a martensitic hardening, corrosionresistant steel that is generally available in most cases with a thermochemical surface layer treatment method and is characterised by very high corrosion resistance as well as high wear and overrolling resistance.
